“Training of Trainers for Raising Awareness about European Citizenship”

The training course “Training of Trainers for Raising Awareness about European Citizenship” gathered 24 participants from 9 countries: Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Serbia, Kosova, Macedonia, Montenegro. The project was held in İzmir, Turkey and lasted 8 days.
Target group of this training course were active youth workers who wanted to explore the concepts and values of European citizenship and to develop European level educational activities which tackle issues of passivity in youth and working on motivation of youth so they become encouraged to resolve their problems by themselves.
This course aimed to achieve the following objectives:
- To allow for exchange of realities and practices among youth workers from different backgrounds on different aspects of European Citizenship
- To empower youth workers for active promotion of the values and concerns of European Citizenship through trainings they will lead
- To empower youth workers to become quality youth trainers for the youth in our communities
- To empower our participants to work on raising young people’s awareness on European topics and to involve them in the discussion on the construction and the future of the Europe
- introduce the programme Youth in Action;
- encourage participants to develop future projects for promoting European Citizenship, within the Youth in Action programme.
Methodology: the training course was based on the pedagogical understanding of the Council of Europe and the European Commission Partnership Programme and our own experience. The training course followed the non-formal education approach. A combination of different creative and interactive methods were used by the training/facilitating team and designed upon the profile of participants. The course programme and contents were organised to allow for the maximum participation of the group using active and participatory methods.
Project’s activities were: preparation activities (including the participants, venue and travel, etc.), the training course with active participation of participants and the evaluation of the participants and the partners, with meeting on the spot of the team and online evaluation meeting of all the partners.
The amount of the EU grant of this project was 21.035,00 Euros.
