Summary of the project:

The project Ensuring accessibility of digital and online resources for youth with disabilities (SEOywd) focuses on strengthening digital accessibility and inclusion in youth work. In today’s society, education, participation, communication and access to services increasingly depend on digital and online environments. However, these environments are still not equally accessible to everyone.

Young people with disabilities are often among those most affected by inaccessible digital content, online learning materials and communication tools. When digital resources are not designed with accessibility in mind, they can create additional barriers to participation, learning, autonomy and inclusion.

SEOywd addresses this challenge by supporting youth workers, educators and youth organisations in developing the knowledge, skills and practical resources needed to make digital and online youth work more accessible. The project also directly empowers young people with disabilities by offering educational tools, workshops and online learning opportunities tailored to their needs.

The project is funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ under Key Action 2 – Cooperation partnerships in youth. It is coordinated by Outreach Hannover e.V. and implemented together with partner organisations from Estonia, Serbia, Italy and Croatia.

Aim of the project:

  • To foster an inclusive digital environment that enhances accessibility and empowers young people with disabilities.
  • To reduce the digital divide by ensuring that digital spaces and online resources, especially those developed in the youth work sector, are accessible to all.
  • To strengthen the capacity of youth workers and youth organisations to design and implement accessible educational digital content and activities.

Project specific objectives:

  • To improve the capacities and resources of youth workers for promoting digital accessibility and inclusion through a curriculum, training activities and an online course.
  • To empower young people with disabilities by providing them with practical tools and knowledge for navigating and using digital and online environments.
  • To develop and disseminate accessible resources through an online platform, targeted online campaigns and international conferences.
  • To promote equal access, participation and inclusion in digital youth work across partner countries.

The project also contributes to wider European priorities related to inclusion, digital transformation, quality youth work and equal opportunities for young people with disabilities. Its results will support youth organisations, educators and stakeholders in making their digital content, online activities and educational resources more accessible and inclusive.
